Cloud Software Engineer – Level 2

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Cloud Software Engineer (Level 2). The Cloud Software Engineer shall support platforms that automate complex processes to accommodate advanced analytical challenges. The candidate will work within an Agile team leveraging DevOps principles to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based software solutions.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) or Python
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Experience with JavaScript (JavaScript frameworks, e.g., React or Vue.js).
• Knowledge of JSON/REST services.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Familiar with Redis and MongoDB.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.

DESIRED EXPERTISE:

• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including Pods, Services, Namespaces, and resource management.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs)
• Familiarity with distributed streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka) and graph databases (e.g., Neo4)
• Expertise in cloud monitoring and observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with big data processing frameworks, such as Apache Spark is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Cloud Certification required in one of the following:
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • Elastic Certified Engineer

OR

• Five (5) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
