Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Level 3). The Software Engineer will analyze and develop requirements to support the characterization and ingestion of new and existing data types. The Software Engineer will collaborate with customer teams to understand needs and requirements; and recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.  The Software Engineer will manage the software development lifecycle including design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance in an agile environment.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong Java development experience (e.g. Java, C, or C++)
• Proficiency with IaC tools (e.g. Ansible or Puppet)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar technologies
• Experience with Docker or similar technologies
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development/engineering
• 5+ years developing software on UNIX/Linux (Red Hat) environments
• 3+ years of software integration and testing including test plan and script development
• Hadoop or Cloud Developer certification required
• Rotating Tier III on-call schedule

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, and NiFi
• Familiarity with MongoDB and messaging systems (e.g. ActiveMQ)
• Experience with Spring Framework, Python, and Bash scripting
• Experience with AWS, hybrid cloud environments, and related cloud technologies
• One of the following certifications:
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus eight (8) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
