Software Engineer – Level 3

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer – Level 3. The Software Engineer shall design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing­ intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. The Software Engineer will also review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Software development activities include implementation, testing, and integration with other COTS and FOSS products, packages, and libraries. The Software Engineer must have a demonstrated understanding of the software development life cycle.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux Suite of Tools.
• Recent software development experience using Python and Java
• Experience developing scripts using Bash scripts to automate manual processes.
• Experience using Splunk for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools.
• Experience interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog
• Experience with Message Brokers including Kafka
• Experience with IaC principles and automation tools such as Ansible.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker).Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies and tools such as GitLab CI.
• Experience with Git Source Control System

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence_
• Experience with Elasticsearch

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and five (5) years of relevant experience as a system engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and seven (7) years of relevant experience as a system engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Nine (9) years of experience as a system engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
