Software Engineer – Level 1

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Level 1). The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing­ intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. The Software Engineer (Level 1) will be responsible for developing and maintaining system management infrastructure software and services for High Performance Computing (HPC) systems in a Linux environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux tools
• Experience developing scripts using Bash/Python
• Recent software development experience using Java
• Recent software development experience using the Spring Framework including Spring Boot, Spring Data and Spring Integration
• Skilled with NoSQL databases including MongoDB
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containered
• Knowledge of container orchestration technologies including Kubernetes
• Familiar with Messaging Frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Familiar with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI and Jenkins
• Experience with Git Source Control System
• Familiar with IaC principles, methodologies, and tools including Ansible

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence
• Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services in a Kubernetes environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus zero (0) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Four (4) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
