Software Engineer – Level 3

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Level 3). The Software Engineer will devise strategies to extract meaning and value from structured and unstructured data; leverage statistical methods and/or machine learning to discover patterns and behaviors of entities; use query and visualization tools, such as DataXplorer to present question focused datasets in a story-like manner; work with various domains of metadata to develop new methodologies and techniques for automated data characterization; and analyze and develop requirements to support the characterization and ingestion of new and existing data types.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with Java.
• Analytic development experience.
• Familiar with DataXplorer.
• Working knowledge of NiFi is desired.
• Knowledgeable with data enrichment/conversion methods.
• Familiar with data ontologies/schemas.
• Strong knowledge of structured data types (XML, CSV, JSON).
• Possesses database experience.

 DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE:
Scripting languages, such as Python and Scala.
Skilled w/frameworks, such as Pig, MapReduce and Spark.
Experience with predictive analytics, machine learning, and data mining.
Skilled with data flows, Pig scripting, Hadoop MapReduce, and various analytic tools.
Experience working with cloud service providers and data stewards.
Demonstrated experience in network metadata processing, manipulation, and analysis.

 QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus twenty (20) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Twenty-four (24) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
