Software Engineer – Level 3

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Level 3). The Software Engineer shall resolve software problem reports; utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment; provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off­The-Shelf (COTS) Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. The Software Engineer shall be able to develop in Unix; perform shell scripting; and have as working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation. Furthermore, the Software Engineer shall be responsible for implementing access controls and permission mechanisms for securing access to critical HPC system resources through robust permission management, ensuring compliance with security policies and industry standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience using the Linux CLI
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash) to automate tasks and processes
• Experience developing software solutions using Python
• Experience implementing RBAC/ABAC for HPC systems
• Experience with advanced Linux security administration including PAM, SELinux, file permissions, ACLs, and audit logging
• Experience developing Ansible playbooks to orchestrate the automation of provisioning HPC hardware and software components
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker & PodMan
• Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools including GitLab CI
• Experience with Git Source Control System
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence) is desired
• Familiar with Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is desired

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus seven (7) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Nine (9) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
