System Administrator – Level 3

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced System Administrator (Level 3). The System Administrator shall perform mid-level Network/Desktop Administration supporting an enterprise network and end-user computing infrastructure. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on switching and network support with desktop/endpoint administration. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the stack — from configuring VLANs and port security on Cisco switches to imaging endpoints and troubleshooting Windows 10/11 clients — while delivering responsive, professional customer support to end users.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience working in a Linux environment; experience with Windows 10/11.

• Experience with Cisco switches running IOS-XE and NX-OS.
• Experience supporting enterprise network fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP/DNS behavior, and Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting.
• Ability to maintain VDI/thin-client infrastructure, including endpoint provisioning and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of CLI and administrative tooling — PuTTY, PowerShell, and Windows CMD — for configuration, diagnostics, and routine automation.
• Possess basic firewall awareness and coordination experience (e.g., Cisco Firepower/ASA).
• Familiar with remote administration tools.
• Knowledge of structured cabling, patch panels, and physical connectivity.
• Experience with basic scripting/automation for repetitive administrative tasks.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Experience must include the following:
  • 5+ years of experience working Cisco switches on IOS-XE and NX-OS platforms with a solid grasp of networking fundamentals: VLANs, subnetting, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and switching concepts.
  • 10+ years of experience administering the customer’s classified VDI / thin-client desktop platform & experience in Windows 10/11 administration and troubleshooting.
• Certifications:  CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCST or CCNA (is preferred)

OR

• Twenty (20) years of experience as a system administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • 5+ years of experience working Cisco switches on IOS-XE and NX-OS platforms with a solid grasp of networking fundamentals: VLANs, subnetting, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and switching concepts.
  • 10+ years of experience administering the customer’s classified VDI / thin-client desktop platform & experience in Windows 10/11 administration and troubleshooting.
• Certifications:  CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCST or CCNA (is preferred)

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
