Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Cloud Software Engineer (Level 3). The Cloud Software Engineer shall focus on supporting all aspects of agile software design and development for products deployed across large-scale compute clusters. The Cloud Software Engineer responsibilities include designing and building new capabilities, conducting testing, optimizing performance, and supporting ongoing operations and sustainment. Further responsibilities include: troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Additionally, the Cloud Software Engineer will create SOPs and maintain technical documentation; and review system designs for accuracy, completeness, and scalability.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong Java development experience, including distributed systems, networking, and multithreading
• Strong Linux fundamentals
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl)
• Familiar with containerization technology (Docker, Kubernetes)

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, NiFi experience is desired
• Spring Framework and Bash experience is desired
• Experience with MongoDB is desired

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus four (4) years of experience as a cloud software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Certification:  Hadoop or Cloud Developer certification required

OR

• Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus six (6) years of experience as a cloud software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Certification:  Hadoop or Cloud Developer certification required

OR

• Eight (8) years of experience as a cloud software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Certification:  Hadoop or Cloud Developer certification required

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
