Cloud System Administrator – Level 2

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for a highly skilled senior Cloud System Administrator Skill Level 2 and Distributed System Engineer. This is not a traditional system administrator role. It is a reliability-focused distributed systems engineering position operating at scale. Candidate will need to perform in a cloud environment platform, built with Java on Free and OpenSource software. The candidate will work with data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure. The candidate will be involved with day-to-day operations, providing customer support, as well as technical and troubleshooting repair expertise. Furthermore, the candidate will provide Tier 1 through Tier 3 support and after-hours support as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong experience with Linux Systems with (minimum 7 years) RedHat, CentOS, or similar
• Experience with administering large distributed systems (minimum of 3 years)
• Strong experience with scripting in Bash, Python, or Perl (minimum of 5 years)
• Hands on experience with Puppet, Ansible, Salt
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline integration and Git-based workflows
• Experience with monitoring solutions, e.g.  Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk,
• Able to maintain and optimize large-scale Hadoop and Accumulo or large distributed systems

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

• Security+ (DoD 8570 compliant)
• One of the following certifications is required:
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as an engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Seven (7) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
