Data Scientist – Level 2

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Data Scientist  (Level 2) to develop and deploy machine learning, statistical, and graph-based algorithms that drive data-driven decision-making. This role spans the full analytical lifecycle—from evaluating model performance and engineering synthetic data to generating customer-facing visualizations. The candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts to automate manual data processes and seamlessly integrate prototype algorithms into robust production workflows.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Background in producing data visualizations
• Collaborate with subject matters experts (SMEs) to identify important information in raw data
• Experience developing scripts that extract information from a variety of data formats (e.g., SQL tables, structured metadata, network logs)
• Ability to develop Al and machine learning models to address complex problems
• Experience developing and optimizing Large Language Models (LLM)
• Experience with using GPU-based computing resources
• Ability to design and deploy statistical, machine learning, and heuristic models to deliver descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Familiar with developing statistical tests
• Experienced with developing data-simulation models and experiments when source datasets are unavailable.
• Demonstrated creation of feature vectors for machine learning algorithms.
• Ability to select the correct algorithm for a given dataset and effectively tune model and input parameters
• Knowledgeable of standard validation techniques and performance metrics ((e.g. cross validation, ROC curves, confusion matrices)
• Oversee the development of individual analytic efforts and guide team in analytic development process

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Familiar with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks, agents, and agentic workflow

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus eight (8) year of experience as a data scientist in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of experience as a data scientist in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Fifteen (15) years of experience as a data scientist in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
