Software Engineer – Level 4

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Level 4). The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing­ intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience using Linux CLI and the Linux suite of tools.
• Proficient using Python for software development.
• Experience developing Shell/Perl scripts to automate manual processes.
• Experience with GitLab and CI/CD principles and methodologies.
• Familiar with Splunk alerting, incident management workflows.
• Familiar with SPL, dashboard creation, and reporting.
• Experience with field extractions, data models, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of IaC principles and automation tools including Ansible.
• Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related disciplinefrom an accredited college or university, plus twelve (12) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Fourteen (14) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
