System Administrator – Level 1

DESCRIPTION:

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced System Administrator (Level 1). The System Administrator shall possess UNIX/Linux system administration experience (Linux, Solaris); have an understanding of fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts; be able to perform tuning and capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels); have the ability to write simple Perl/Shell scripts; and be knowledgeable of Oracle (including installation and setup).

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Experience in writing scripts (Perl/Shell); knowledge of how C/C++, DBMS & Perl work together is desired

• Understand Oracle (installation/setup).
• Experience implementing, troubleshooting, configuring, maintaining IT systems.
• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) of problem identification, diagnosis and resolution.
• Provide system support, including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Perform system optimization & resource utilization as well as capacity analysis.

• Programming skills in Perl or Bourne Shell is desired.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years experience as a system administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Certification:  Security+ (DoD 8570 compliant)

OR

• Ten (10) years of experience as a system administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Certification:  Security+ (DoD 8570 compliant)

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
