System Engineer – Level 2

Ascendant Innovations Corp is looking for an experienced System Engineer (Level 2). The detail-oriented System Engineer will serve in a Technical Writer capacity. In this hybrid role, the candidate will leverage both engineering knowledge and strong communication skills to produce new documentation artifacts, manage new and pre-existing documentation, and maintain high-quality technical documentation across a complex, multi-cloud environment program. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with a wide variety of tools, configuration management best practices, and collaborative platforms to deliver accurate and accessible documentation to both technical and non-technical audiences.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Documentation Generation
• Utilize available tools to generate technical documentation efficiently and accurately. Tools can include but not limited to: Atlassian suite of products, Microsoft tools, gitlab
• Review, edit, and validate all content to ensure quality, technical accuracy, clarity, and comprehension prior to publication or distribution.

Configuration Management & Document Control
• Consolidate documentation sourced from multiple repositories, webpages and locations into a unified, authoritative baseline
• Maintain document currency and consistency across all environments where content is published, ensuring synchronization and version control at all times

Security & Compliance Documentation
• Create, update, and maintain System Security Plan (SSP) documentation in accordance with applicable frameworks and program requirements.
• Ensure security documentation accurately reflects system configurations, controls, and operational procedures.

Technical Documentation & Diagrams
• Develop and maintain user-facing documentation, standard operating procedures, process guides, and technical reference materials.
• Design and update system diagrams, workflows, and visual aids using Microsoft Visio or equivalent design tools.
• Produce polished deliverables using the full Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Collaboration & Knowledge Management
• Use Atlassian Jira to track documentation tasks, manage work items, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Capture, organize, and publish team knowledge and documentation in Atlassian Confluence, ensuring content is structured for easy team consumption and discoverability.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Experience supporting DoD or Federal Government programs.
• Familiarity with version control systems and document management platforms.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and information assurance practices.
• Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps environments.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus fourteen (14) years of experience as a system engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

OR

• Nineteen (19) yearsof experience as a system engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret/SCI w/polygraph.
